Clan and Dojo Overview
A Clan is a group of players who have joined together to play as a team and benefit from the many gameplay elements that are available only to members of a clan. Clans can build Dojos, research special clan-only items, compete as a team in special events, earn a rank on the clan leader boards and upload player-made Emblems to the game that will help identify members of the clan to other players.
Note: Each platform is an entirely separate entity. A PC account cannot be part of a PS4 Clan and vice versa. PC players also cannot visit the Dojo of a PS4 Clan and vice versa, by any means.

Please note that another benefit that only a Warlord can have is the ability to change the Spawn Room of your Dojo to some of the halls present using the console in the room you wish to change the Spawn Room to.
Note: Warlords cannot demote each other. Only the Founding Warlord can demote Warlords, and that is the only difference between a Founding Warlord and a Warlord as far as permissions are concerned.
Below is a list of the permissions and an explanation of their abilities.
RULER: Member can add/remove permissions on others (Warlord starts with this)
RECRUITER: Member can invite other players to the Clan
REGULATOR: Member can kick from the Clan
PROMOTION: Member can promote other clan members to a rank below or equal to their own and demote ranks lower than their own
ARCHITECT: Member can begin construction or destruction of Dojo rooms or Decorations
DOJO DECORATOR: Member can add or remove decorations, but cannot construct or destruct rooms.
TREASURER: Member can make Dojo contributions from the Clan Vault, and can edit the Clan Trade Tax Rate.
TECH: Member can queue up researches in the Clan labs.
CHAT MODERATOR: Member can kick or suspend from Clan chat.
HERALD: Member can alter and post a new Message of the day.
FABRICATOR: Member is authorized to replicate Clan technology.
A note to Founders / Warlords and the DE Policy on Dealing With Internal Clan Matters:
Keep in mind that once a player has been promoted to Warlord, they can no longer be demoted or kicked from the clan unless you are a Founding Warlord, so be very careful as a Warlord when choosing other clan members to promote to this rank.
If the Founding Warlord has been inactive for 30 days or longer they can be replaced by submitting a ticket to our support desk (we want to ensure that all clans can function correctly, which is not possible without at least one active Warlord).
Digital Extremes makes it our policy not to get involved with internal clan matters and any other difficulties that may arise with a Warlord or other players in a clan will generally need to be resolved internally by the clan members involved.
Inviting To Clan
To invite players to your clan, access your clan menu by clicking on the Dojo in your Star Chart and then select "Clan Management" and choose the Invite member option. Type the name of the player you wish to invite into the prompt and select "OK".
Clan Tiers
Clan tiers are a method to organize clans by size while keeping it possible to run a full Dojo for any size of Clans. There are separate leader boards for each clan tier, and clans will generally only compete against other clans in the same tier as them when it comes to contests, events, and event rewards. A clan’s tier is raised when it builds the appropriate sized clan Barracks and these must be built in order from smallest tier to largest. The Tiers are organized as follows:
Clan Tier |
Members |
Costs |
Ghost |
MAX 10 |
Build and research costs are all base value. |
Shadow |
MAX 30 |
Build and research costs are roughly three times the base value. |
Storm |
MAX 100 |
Build and research costs are roughly 10 times the base value. |
Mountain |
MAX 300 |
Build and research costs are roughly 30 times the base value. |
Moon |
MAX 1000 |
Build and research costs are roughly 100 times the base value. |
Note: Please note that Forma are scaling differently!
Reducing Clan Tier
If you are a Warlord of the clan, you can simply downsize your clan by clicking the "REDUCE CLAN TIER" option in your Clan Dojo menu.
To reduce your clan tier the following conditions must be met:
- You must have a Barracks built for the tier lower than your current tier. i.e. To go from Moon tier to Mountain tier, you must have a Mountain Barracks in your Dojo. Changing from Shadow tier to Ghost tier does not require any barracks.
- You must NOT have the barracks for your current tier in your Dojo. I.E. if changing from a Storm tier to Shadow tier clan, you must first destroy your Storm Barracks.
- All pending room and decoration builds must be completed or cancelled.
- The clan membership count must be lower than the maximum capacity of the lower tier you are trying to change to. For example: if you are reducing your tier from Mountain to Storm, you must have 100 or fewer members in your clan currently.
When all the above criteria are met, you will be able to select the "Reduce Clan Tier" option in your menu while in the Dojo. After your tier changes, you will notice reduced costs for room and decoration builds and any active research projects will have their resource requirements updated to reflect the new tier. Please note that any overages you spent on research at your previous tier, will not be refunded when you reduce your tier. There is a cooldown of 60 days in between tier changes after each use of this option.
Clan Rank and Clan Affinity
Clan Affinity will be awarded depending on the amount of effort expended towards bettering one’s Clan. This Clan Affinity will contribute to the Clan’s Rank and is awarded as follows:
- Trading Post: 10,000 XP
- Treasury: 10,000 XP
- Obstacle Course: 15,000 XP
- Obstacle Course Architect: 15,000 XP
- Duelling Room: 15,000 XP
- Oracle: 10,000 XP
- Energy Lab: 10,000 XP
- Chem Lab: 10,000 XP
- Bio Lab: 10,000 XP
- Orokin Lab: 10,000 XP
- Tenno Lab: 10,000 XP
- Temple of Honor: 15,000 XP
- Ventkids Bash Lab: 10,000 XP
- Upon completion of Clan Researches.
Note: Please note that Trophies will not grant XP.
The amount of Clan Affinity earned by building Rooms or Decorations are listed in their respective selection screens and Research entries affinity awarded can be seen in the appropriate research Lab UI.
A Research tab is also present on the Clan Profile. The Clan Research tab will list all research and its state of completion per Lab.
Note: The items listed above will grant XP, but only if they exist within the Dojo (i.e cannot be built then destroyed).
If you have earned enough affinity to reach the next Rank, a new Decoration called the Ascension Altar will become active and placable in your Dojo through the decoration placement UI. To participate in this Ceremony, a member who meets the qualifications must simply interact with this device.
In the screenshot above, the Altar informs the player that only 3/15 Clan members interacted with it and 12 more are required before starting the Ascension Ceremony.
To qualify for participation in the ceremony, a player must have been in the clan for a number of consecutive days equal to the rank being obtained (i.e. 1 day for Rank 1, 7 days for Rank 7). Depending on your Clan Tier, a certain number of members must partake in this ceremony to reach Ascension, but under no time limit.
Participants will immediately be awarded Endo upon interacting with the Altar, and any remaining Clan members will be able to interact with the Altar and receive an Endo reward within 72 hours after the Ascension Ceremony has been completed. Participants from Clans who have enough Clan Affinity to Ascend multiple Ranks will be rewarded with Endo from each individual Rank.
The required number of participants per Tier are as follows:
- Ghost: 1
- Shadow: 5
- Storm: 15
- Mountain: 30
- Moon: 50
The amount of Endo awarded per Clan Rank is as follows:
- Rank One: 1,000
- Rank Two: 2,000
- Rank Three: 3,000
- Rank Four: 4,000
- Rank Five: 5,000
- Rank Six: 6,000
- Rank Seven: 7,000
- Rank Eight: 8,000
- Rank Nine: 9,000
- Rank Ten : 10,000
Once its members complete the Ascension Ceremony, the Clan will Ascend to the highest Clan Rank attainable with their current amount of Affinity.
Leaving or Destroying a Clan
How do I quit or leave a clan?
- Access your Clan menu by clicking on your Dojo in the Star Chart.
- Right-click on your name in the clan player list and then click "Leave Clan"
- Confirm you wish to truly leave your clan by clicking OK.
What if you are the Founding Warlord?
If you are the Founding Warlord for your Clan and there are other members in it, you will have to promote another Clan member to Warlord before you can leave yourself.
In order to do that, please go to Communications > Clan, and from the members’ list, select the player you want to promote, then “Promote” and enter the confirmation message. Please note that this process cannot be cancelled, so please be careful!
Note: When a clan no longer has any members, this clan is permanently deleted from the database and cannot be recovered, and all resources contributed are gone forever! So be absolutely certain you wish to destroy your clan before doing so!
Also, you need to make sure that no one is left in the Clan, and that includes also pending members. Don’t forget to remove them or you will not be able to leave the Clan!
Clan Alliances and Dark Sectors
Alliances are a collection of clans, united together in a common cause. The maximum alliance size is 4000 "slots" and an alliance can consist of any combination of Ghost (10 slots), Shadow (30 slots), Storm (100 slots), Mountain (300 slots), or Moon (1000 slots) Clans, as long as their total slots do not exceed the maximum allowed for an alliance. An alliance could have 4 Moon Clans, 400 Ghost Clans or 3 Moon Clans, and 100 Ghost Clans - the number of clan members in the clan does not matter, only the maximum number of slots for the clan's tier is counted.
To create an alliance, access your clan management menu and select the "Create Alliance" option, then type in the name of your new Alliance. After you have created an alliance, the Create Alliance option will be replaced by the View Alliance option. In the View Alliance menu, you will be given the option to invite another clan to your alliance, distribute alliance vault resources or leave the alliance altogether.
Only the Creator Clan will have the ability to invite other clans into the alliance, and this clan will also have the ability to kick clans out of the alliance. The Creator Clan will also have the option to distribute all the credits from solar rail taxes and clan contributions in the alliance vault to the various clans in the alliance. Vault shares are distributed amongst the clans based on the clans’ proportion of non-pending members compared to the total population of the alliance and are automatically divided up amongst member clans before a clan is added to the alliance and before a clan leaves the alliance. The Creator Clan will be able to kick other clans out of the alliance, but they will not be able to leave the Alliance (and therefore destroy it) unless they are the last clan remaining in the Alliance.
Note: To make donations directly to an alliance vault (or alternately to your clan's vault), construct the "Treasury" decoration in one of the rooms in your Dojo. This kiosk will also allow you to make transfers from your Clan Vault to your Alliance Vault as well as viewing the credit totals of both vaults.
Dark Sectors
The Clan Dojo
A Clan Dojo is a place where the members of your clan can go to interact with other Tenno in a shared environment, or benefit from the many functional advantages of being in a Warframe Clan.
How to access your Dojo
When you first join or create a Warframe clan you will be given a blueprint for a Dojo Key. You can forge this key in your foundry.
The cost to forge your Dojo key is 1500 Credits, 1 Morphic, 500 Ferrite, and 500 Polymer Bundles and it will take 12 hours to complete (10 Platinum will rush the build and make the key available to you immediately).
Once you claim your key from the foundry you will be able to access it by clicking on the Dojo in your Star Chart screen which brings you to your Clan Menu. You can also enter your Dojo by selecting "Enter Clan Dojo" on the Clan menu by accessing it through the Communications Menu which is reached from the main menu.
How to build rooms
Any player who has the Architect permission for their rank will be able to construct new rooms for their Dojo at any open door nodes. If you see a door with glowing red outlines, this is an open node, and walking up to this door and using a context action will bring up a menu that will let you choose a room to start constructing at this node.
Click on any image of a room and you will see a list of the resources required to build the room as well as any prerequisite rooms that may need to be built in your Dojo before the ability to build the room in question is unlocked. Clicking the build button will queue the room up for construction and begin the resource collection process. Using a context action while near the active node will bring up the resource contribution screen. On the resource contribution screen, you will see a list of resources required to build the room on the right and the amount contributed already on the left. Next to the resource counts, you will see a “-“and a “+” option and a field where you can simply type in a contribution amount using your keyboard.
The current room limit for any Dojo is 128 Rooms. If you have reached the limit for rooms in your Dojo you will see all nodes displayed as "Dead Ends" and you will not be able to build new rooms in your Dojo unless you destroy a room and bring your total room count back below the maximum. See below for instructions on destroying elements of your Dojo.
Make sure to pay attention to your floors, some rooms are taking up a lot of space horizontally, but also vertically and it can prevent you from building rooms above it even several upper floors above.
Please also note that you can only have a maximum of 3 Inspiration Halls.
The Clan Vault
Above the contribution input area, you will see a number showing your personal total amount of the given resource “P:” and the amount of this resource in the clan’s vault “V:”. If you have the Treasurer’s permission, you will always draw from the clan vault first when contributing resources, only drawing from your personal resources when the clan vault has been emptied of that resource.
Room Prerequisites, Destruction, and Cancellation
Each room you build has a Capacity requirement and an Energy requirement. Capacity is added to your Dojo by building larger Clan Halls and Energy is added to your Dojo by building Reactors. Builds can be rushed using Platinum once all the resource contributions have been made. Please know that only Platinum received through trades or purchased through an official Warframe payment provider can be used for rushing builds in the Dojo (this is to avoid exploiting a new account’s 50 starting platinum for this process).
Canceling a room before all resources have been contributed will return all resources invested to the players who invested them. Destroying a room after it has been built will return all the resources invested into the rooms built to the clan vault.
Decorations
Please note that the following information is currently only for the PC version of Warframe: Players may place decorations in rooms using the room console or accessing their pause menu. To place a new decoration for construction, access a room’s console and then press the “Place Decoration” button or open the pause menu in your Dojo and select "Decorations" and "Place Decoration".
You will then be able to move about the room freely to select the place for your decoration. As soon as you have found the right spot, pressing 1 will bring up the menu to select your decoration. To move the decoration, you can use the left mouse button.
The right mouse button is used to remove a decoration. To place the decoration, press 1 again. You can cancel this process at any time by pressing ESC.
Once placed, hover over your decoration and press 2 for "Edit Decoration content" to contribute to the decoration build in the same manner as you would for a room build.
Once a decoration has finished building, you can destroy it by selecting the Edit Decoration button on the room console or by going to the "Place Decoration" in the pause menu. You will then need to hover over the decoration and use the left mouse button to remove the decoration, with the contributed resources being returned to the Clan Vault.
Note: The Trading Post is a decoration and can be placed in any room with enough height and capacity.
Polychromatic Units
Polychromatic units may be placed in a room using the Decorations Menu and are used to apply new colors to your room which you have researched using your Tenno Lab. "Polychrome Room" is an option on the main Decorations Menu which can be used to place the Polychromatic Unit as you would a normal decoration. Ensure that when you place the unit, you will be able to access the console from the front (do not place it against a wall or other object that will block access to it).
The console of the Polychromatic unit will allow you to edit the colors in your room, see a preview of the current color settings and fund the painting process. When the color changes have been set and the project fully funded, the painting process will begin and complete automatically.
To remove the Polychrome, simply go back to the Decorations Menu / Remove Polychrome.
How the Parent/Child Relationship works when building or destroying rooms
When you use an open building node to build a new room, this new room becomes the "Child" of the original room (and that original room becomes the "Parent" room). In order to destroy the original (Parent) room now, the new (Child) room must be destroyed first. It is a good idea to keep the Parent/Child relationship in mind when building your Dojo as destroying a specific room in the chain could require the destruction of a large number of "Child" rooms first. If you attempt to destroy a room that has a child, you will receive an error that informs you the room still has a child room that must be destroyed first. Often players will have built an elevator to a second floor and will notice that this entire floor is the child of that elevator (rightly so) and in order to destroy this elevator, they will need to destroy the entire floor.
A somewhat similar situation to the Elevator issue mentioned above, when you change the spawn room in your Dojo this will alter the Parent-Child relationships of your rooms so that the new Spawn room is essentially considered the "starting room" for the whole of the Dojo and will therefore have no parent. If you are having trouble destroying a room and the child rooms being called out by the UI appear to be incorrect, make sure you are not attempting to destroy your Dojo's Spawn Room and if you are, try switching the Spawn Room back to your starting Clan Hall if possible (or another Hall if not), and try again.
The Star Chart Dojo Contest
Now that you have the basics about your Dojo, let the Decorator in you shine! This is a contest allowing you to decorate your Dojo as you want and have a chance to have your work exposed on the Star Chart!
There are two categories:
Star Chart Ascendant Category
The original category, based on the Featured Dojo Contest of the past three years. In this category, Dojos that have never been showcased on the Star Chart are given priority.
Star Chart All Stars Category
Clan Tier does not apply to this category. All Dojos compete based on designs alone. By submitting a Dojo that has been on the Star Chart in the past, your submission is automatically included in both the Star Chart Ascendant category and the Star Chart All Stars category.
You can find all the details and more in the Official Topic for this season here.
