If you are having problems connecting, updating, or getting disconnected while playing Warframe, please try these simple steps before contacting Support:
Check Physical Connections
Inspect cables, routers, and switches. Ensure everything is properly connected and powered on.
Restart Devices: PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch
Restarting your devices can solve many problems.
- Turn off your PC or Console
- Unplug or power off your modem, router, and any other connected network devices for 30 seconds.
- Plug in/power on your modem
- Wait 30 seconds, and turn on your router and any other connected network devices.
- Turn on your PC or Console
- Load up Warframe!
Monitor Your Network Traffic
Check your PC or any others on your network that may be using more bandwidth than normal. If another device is streaming video or transferring data while you are trying to play it may negatively impact performance or your ability to connect. Please STOP all other uploads, downloads, and streaming on all devices if you are still experiencing problems.
Use Wired Connection
Wi-Fi is obviously more convenient than wired Ethernet cables. But Ethernet still offers advantages — faster speeds, lower latency, and no wireless interference problems. Temporarily connecting your PC or console to the router/modem using Ethernet cables, can eliminate many problems that can be caused by poor Wi-Fi connection.
-
If using a wired connection is not possible try to reduce the interference between the router and your PC/console's Wi-Fi receiver.
- Relocate your wireless router closer to the PC/console. If that isn't an option, move it away from nearby routers, appliances or dense building materials (walls).
- Reduce the number of wireless gadgets connected to the Wi-Fi. The more gadgets and the closer they are to each other, the higher chance you may run into interference.
- Change the wireless frequency: Check with your router's manual or the manufacturer on the most optimal channel and channel width to use for your Wi-Fi connection. For example, 20mhz is less susceptible to interference and collisions with other network devices than 40mhz.
Antivirus/Firewall and Proxy Issues (PC Only)
Firewall or routing software/hardware will generally have advanced settings to prioritize and manage types of network traffic. Sometimes this software can interfere with the delivery of data for Warframe. Fixing it can be as simple as telling that software to allow Warframe through its filters.
To do this:
- Add an exception to all of your firewall and anti-virus software (including Windows Firewall) for "Launcher.exe" and "Warframe.x64.exe".
-
If you are using a third-party firewall you can test temporarily disabling it to see if the update is getting blocked. If so, contact the program's support team for assistance configuring it for Warframe.
Remember to re-enable the firewall after completing this test
- If you are running a proxy or VPN, we recommend disabling these as well to confirm if the traffic they are routing is interfering with your download.
Bypass The Router
If your router and modem are separate devices, temporarily bypass the router and connect your PC or console directly to your modem using an ethernet cable.
If the issue stops after the router is temporarily removed from the network, chances are the router is the culprit. Troubleshoot your router by contacting your router's support or the ISP that provided it.
Get in touch with your ISP to check for outages or service disruptions.
