What are Mods?
Warframe's Mod System is based on cards that can be found while you play the game.
There are four different kinds of Mods in Warframe:
- General Mods - Improve your weapon / Warframe / Sentinel
- Augment Mods - Alter the Ability / weapon behavior, or add new functionalities
- Auras/Stances - Passive powers that raise your available Mod points
- Precepts - Behavior schemes for Companions
Know your Mods
NAME - Check the Codex for a list of what is possible!
DRAIN - This is the capacity cost for equipping this Mod.
POLARITY - In the upgrade screen you will see that Mod Slots will often be attuned to a specific Polarity. Matching Mods to Slot Polarities significantly reduce the drain, while Mods that do not match will increase the drain.
FUSION - You can increase the level of a Mod through Fusion. This will increase both its effectiveness and drain.
ITEM - This determines the type of item this Mod can be installed in. It may refer to a broad range of weapon types or a specific weapon.
UPGRADE - Describes the effect this Mod has on your item. Statistical benefits will rise if you apply Fusion to the Mod.
RARITY - Rarity is identified by the color of the frame on the Mod. Golden Mods are the rarest kind, Silver Mods are uncommon and Bronze Mods are the most common variety.
Mod Segment
Following completion of the Vor's Prize, you will be set on a path to recover a Mod Segment and then install it in your Orbiter (it will be located in the lower compartment).
Adding Mods to your Equipment
To add Mods to your equipment, go to your Arsenal and select the item you want to equip with Mods. You will see three buttons next to the item:
- EQUIP - Allows you to equip different items
- UPGRADE - Brings you to the item's Mod screen
- APPEARANCE - Opens the customization options
Select UPGRADE and you will see the Mod screen. You can choose one of the Mods from the bottom and equip it to one of the open slots. If the polarity of the Mod and slot match, the amount of Mod points utilized is cut in half (rounded up). However, if the polarities do not match, the Mod will utilize more points than listed. Slots without polarities always use the amount of points displayed on the Mod. When you are finished equipping Mods, select the BACK button and you will return to the Arsenal.
Fusion
All Mods can be upgraded through a process called Endo Fusion. Endo, a fusion energy, reacts with Mods to increase their rank, giving you more power! Fusion will increase the Drain value required to install the Mod.
To start a fusion, select the Mod your want to upgrade and select FUSION on the top left side of the screen. You can now choose the desired upgrade level of the Mod, the maximum upgrade level is dictated by the amount of owned Endo and Credits. Once you are sure that you want to go through with this process, select APPLY FUSION and confirm the process.
Transmutation
Transmuting is the act of merging four Mods at the Mod Segment in your Orbiter to receive a new random Mod. Cephalon Simaris sells Transmute Cores that replace one of the four Mods, guarantee a specific Polarity, and remove the Credit cost from the Transmutation process. Using rarer Mods in the transmutation process raises your chances of getting a rare Mod, but it does not guarantee it.
In order to transmute Mods, go to the Mod screen and select unranked Mods, then click TRANSMUTE. A confirmation screen will pop up with the list of Mods that will be used and the amount of Credits that will be removed from the account and you will be awarded with a new random Mod.
Selling Mods
If you don't want to use Mods in a fusion or transmutation, you can choose to sell them for Credits or Endo.
Select the Mod(s) you wish to sell, then click SELL at the top right of the screen. Once you have selected your Mod(s) to sell, a confirmation screen will appear detailing how many Mods you are selling and how many Credits will be added to the account upon process completion.
Sorting Mods
Once you collect a fair amount of Mods, you may have trouble finding specific Mods you are looking for. Here are some tricks you can use to assist finding Mods:
- Search: You can manually type out the name of the Mod you are looking for in the search box
- Category Tabs: You can select one of the category tab to only show Mods from that category
- Sort by: You can rearrange the displayed Mods in different order, such as name, rarity, newly obtained, etc.
You can also select FILTER at the bottom right side of the screen where you can configure filter settings.
FAQ
I accidentally dissolved a Mod I wanted to keep!
If you have accidentally dissolved a Mod you intended to keep, you must immediately contact Warframe Support by creating a Support Ticket and we will assist you in reversing the process.
Please include the following information:
- The name of the Mod you lost
- The level of the Mod you lost
- The amount of Endo you received
- The time when you dissolved the Mod
Note: If reversal of this sale / dissolve action would leave you below zero Endo it will not be possible to restore your dissolved Mod(s).
I used a Mod in a transmutation / I did not receive a rare Mod from a transmutation!
The transmutation process is random and using 4 Rare Mods simply increases the chances of your receiving a higher rarity Mod. It does not guarantee that you will receive a Common or Uncommon Mod.
Due to this, the transmutation process is considered to be permanent and cannot be reversed.
